Carole Gough
Coordinator
Having worked for over 11 years in Children Centre’s, I was thrilled to be offered the role as
co-ordinator of The Place.
I understand the demands and challenges of being a parent both through my own personal experience of bring up 3 sons and through supporting many families as an outreach worker. I understand the need for families to have somewhere to go where they can feel listened too and welcomed.

My previous experience of working within a school and also a pre-school, where I was able to complete my NVQ 3 in Childcare, has also widened my knowledge, with various training courses enabling me to facilitate Family Links Parenting Courses and Baby Massage.
I understand the importance of the The Place being part of the community, and very much value the relationships built up with families who attend our sessions. It is such a privilege to be part of a family’s journey, even if its just for a short time.
Lucy Redwood-Hanson
Early Years Practitioner
Hello I'm Lucy... I moved to Faringdon with my two young boys in 2009 and had my 3rd son in 2021.
I began supporting families whilst volunteering with Homestart Uk until I started work at The Old Station Nursery where I studied a level 3 Diploma in the Children and Young People’s Workforce. I then went on to work at Faringdon Infant school where I was a Teaching Assistant in a reception class for many years.
When the opportunity arose to work for The Place I was thrilled as I feel passionate about supporting parents/families as well as working with children during the early years. I understand the importance of nurturing young children’s unique qualities and personalities, The Place provides a safe space for them to explore and encourages their development through play. I enjoy getting to know the families who attend our groups, watching them learn and grow together, building relationships and supporting them through the many ups and downs of parenthood and family life.

I have a background in primary school teaching with a specialism in the early years.
I am passionate about supporting and building positive relationships with families. It is always such a privilege to be part of a child’s journey in the early years, whether it be for a few short weeks or a few years
Alix Singleton
Early Years Practitioner
Hello, I’m Alix...
I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to work at The Place. Having worked with children for 9 years, when I needed to leave the UK I missed being a part of their worlds and their adventures. I have found The Place to be not only a friendly and welcoming community-based location, but also a place where children can play whilst parents have the opportunity to share ideas, worries and hopes.
I was a Senior Practitioner for a specialist service working with families and children who were either disabled or on the autistic spectrum. I completed my NVQ 4 (in Children’s Health & Social Care) during that time and worked alongside Social Workers, medical professionals and school staff but I recognised that parents are generally the people who know what is best for their child.
I’m a wife and mum, too. Our daughter is our sunshine. She’s 4 and has a keen interest in everything! Like the children who visit The Place, she certainly keeps me on my toes!
I’m very much looking forward to meeting all of the families who come to us. I feel as though this is a collaborative effort - we can all learn so much from each other.
I feel that supporting you and your families is a real pleasure and honour.
